About us

We started with a spreadsheet that kept failing.

One person in Cape Town sorted a weekly list of names into vehicle routes from memory, every week, for years. It worked until it did not — and rebuilding it properly is how TransportPlus exists.

Our story

Built against a real week, not a demo.

When we modelled the first operation properly, the numbers said something nobody had noticed: capacity was never the problem.

The busiest night carried 74 passengers against 89 available seats. There were always enough seats. What there was not, was time — the gap between the 19:00 and 20:00 collections is sixty minutes, and a Khayelitsha round trip is a hundred and ten. Vehicles were being promised to slots they could not physically return from.

That single finding is why our planner has a fleet clock, and why it will refuse a route rather than sell you one it cannot run. Everything else — the exceptions by name, the overrides that survive a re-run, the per-trip billing — came from the same exercise: look at what actually happens, and build for that.

What we believe

Four principles we will not trade away.

Nobody disappears from a plan

Anyone who cannot be routed is surfaced by name with a reason. A system that quietly drops people is worse than no system, because it produces confidence instead of a phone call.

Optimise the thing you are billed for

Trips are the invoice; kilometres are only the tiebreak. Optimising distance while trip count creeps up would make our reports look good and your costs worse.

Say what the system cannot do

Our travel times are modelled, not measured, and we say so on the safety page. Overstating capability in this industry gets people stranded at 23:00.

A human can always overrule it

The solver proposes; a coordinator decides. Manual fixes are stored as instructions and replayed onto every future plan, so knowing better than the algorithm only costs you the effort once.
